09 In Our Backyard: Mick Rock retrospective

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

This lunchtime the Cherry clan are going to stretch their legs and head to the Mick Rock Retrospective at Idea Generation on Redchurch Street. His photos capture the rock-n-roll kings and queens of the 70’s and beyond, in a career that spans four decades. Legend!

“London in the late sixties and early seventies was a hotbed of creative interchange. The prevalent hippie philosophy united all manner of artists, musicians, film makers, models, designers, actors, writers, and photographers into a unique and fertile community. My timing was excellent. Curiosity and circumstance drew me into the flame of rock n’ roll.” Mick Rock

Cherry brand and website for Tesco’s ‘Mum of the Year’

Friday, November 6th, 2009

A while back we were approached and asked if we would donate a prize to the Tesco Magazine’s ‘Mum of the Year’ award. We looked into the award  – every year Tesco looks out for women who’ve shown incredible bravery and dedication or who have campaigned tirelessly to help others or inspired others beyond belief – and decided we wanted to be involved.

The winner, Iris Billing, is a phenomenal woman. She founded the charity Tanya’s Courage in memory of her daughter, who very sadly passed away in 2005.

Tesco’s knew that Iris really wanted a new brand and website for the charity, which is where we got involved – providing both, free of charge, for the worthy winner. The new site has just gone live, it’s well worth a look. Keep up the great work Iris and team!

NMA features Cherry-designed Online Game

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Finally, we’re famous.

This week we get a mention in top industry journal, New Media Age, for our work on a new online game that has just been launched by Lonely Planet. We have to admit, we had a lot of fun with this one.

Get ‘em while they’re hot

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

We’ve enjoyed looking through MoMB’s list of the hottest betas on the planet – a great indication of what we’re all going to be fiddling with more over the next 12 months.

Loads of social/web2.0 entries, as you’d expect, plus plenty of neat ways to collaborate, share ideas and speed workflow.

Some of our favourites:

  • Multicolr – Search Flickr images by colourways, great for visual inspiration.
  • Cooliris – A very cool, if somewhat motion sickness-inducing, way of browsing the web visually.
  • OffbeatGuides – Create your own personalised city guides, still in early days (insisted I see Phantom of the Opera every night), but a great idea.
  • Singsbox – Find your favourite music for free, compile a playlist, stream it on your site.
