Campaign Monitor features Cherry handiwork

Cor, look! Another mention for Cherry this week, this time from Campaign Monitor, everyone’s favourite email gurus!

We use their software to create and send campaigns for many of our clients, and they’ve picked up on the redesign we recently unleashed for Lonely Planet’s weekly Seize The Days email.

It’s a design we’re really happy with, and one we feels sums up the fun, inspirational nature of the email content nicely. It’s good to see others are appreciating it too!

We help Lonely Planet “Hack to the future”

Last week we were special guests of our friends at Lonely Planet in their London office’s first ‘Hack Day’. Inspired by the practise first used by Yahoo, the whole team at Lonely Planet was briefed to down their usual work schedule in order to ‘mass brainstorm’. The overall goal being to come up with improvements to their flagship range of Country and Regional Guidebooks.

Our job was to help the team develop and mock up their ideas for presentation to the rest of the company at the end of the 24hr session. With prizes at stake, the pressure was on!

The whole gamut of ideas came out, from the common-sense all the way through to the weird and wonderful. We made lots of new friends and got to eat pizza and drink beer, whilst doing design work. What could be better than that?

Here he is in a swimming pool in Costa Rica sporting what can only be described as a scraggly mess of a “Castaway-style” beard. Thankfully he’s shaved that off and is now the newest signing to the Cherry “Dream Team”. Adrian has a good few years industry experience under his belt and will be helping to keep our clients happy and smiling. He’ll also be working on our business development strategy, aka The Cherry Blueprint for Total World Domination. Hopefully you’ll get to meet him soon.

We like to think we know a thing or two about keeping clients happy at Cherry Towers. So when Digital Arts magazine asked us to contribute to another feature recently, this time on the secrets of successful client relationships, we were more than happy to oblige. You can read what we had to say here. Hopefully people will find a few nuggets of useful advice in there.

Coincidentally, this week we met the illustrator responsible for this month’s Digital Arts’ cover – the multi-talented and very lovely Jing Zhang. Check out her colourful patterns and beautiful illustrations here.

Our friends over at boutique brand experience agency Hunt Haggarty always have plenty to say, show us, tell us and shout about. So they asked Cherry to design and develop their blog and all-round social media portal which went live this week.

Using a bespoke theme on the Wordpress engine, it has widgets to pull in their Flickr galleries, Tweets and Last.fm feed.

Already this week they’ve introduced us to a mini musical movement, shown us an incredible venue in Angel and made us feel hungry with their images of cheesy pizzas.

Cherry donates prize for Tesco Mum of the Year Awards 2009

Now in its fourth year, the Tesco Mum of the Year Awards honours extraordinary women with some truly incredible stories to tell.

This year’s overall winner was Iris Billing from St Austell, Cornwell. After losing her 16-year-old daughter Tanya to a rare form of leukaemia in 2005, Iris was so inspired by Tanya’s bravery throughout her gruelling treatment that she founded Tanya’s Courage, a charity offering financial support to young adult cancer patients throughout Cornwall. Many of these young patients would lose everything they have without Iris’s help, so she really is making an incredible difference.

After hearing Iris’s story, Cherry wanted to donate a prize to the Tesco Mum of the Year Awards. So, we’re currently redesigning the visual identity for Tanya’s Courage, and will soon be launching with a new content-managed website and blog. All should make life much easier for Iris – and hopefully help raise lots more money for such a great cause.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to make it along to the awards to see Iris collect her prize, but we have it on good authority that the host – none other the great Jimmy Osmond – gave Cherry a big-up of cosmic proportions.

Well done Iris. And nice one Jimmy!
