Things we like – James Jarvis “Onwards”

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

A friend who is particularly keen on running has been trying to explain to me just what it is he finds appealing about continually placing one foot in front of the other while becoming more and more out of breath. He decided the best way was to show me an animation, that when he first watched, just blew him away and captured everything he was trying to sum up. Although I am still in no rush to put on my neglected running shoes and head out the door, I can easily see why this animation grabbed him.  All the credit belongs to an animator named James Jarvis. Simply beautiful. Enjoy!

A taste of the Savoy Truffle Supperclub

Cherry are extremely excited to reveal the new branding for fabulous London pop-up restaurant, Savoy Truffle Supperclub. Run by a husband and wife duo who have been gathering reviews in the The Times, The Sunday Times and Time Out, to name but a few, the buzz around STSC is well deserved. We’ve had great fun showcasing the personalities behind the venture in an identity underpinned by a bespoke collage and distinctive logo.

Folkin marvellous

Our friends at Midnight Special and Two for Joy have combined to provide a full day of folk and fun at The Old Queens Head on August Bank holiday Monday. With a Shanty band calling out sailor classics plus accordions and ukuleles a plenty its set to be a right ole knees up.

Luckily for us we were asked to get involved with the design of their flyers and posters. See below for the finished result and lovingly hand screened posters.

Font family Odile has the feminine touch

Yesterday I discovered what I think could be my new favourite font. Designed by Sibylle Hagmann in 2006 and awarded the Swiss Federal Design Award in the same year, it comes in around 15 weights with quirks such as an upright italic and a set of ornaments.

I hope to be rolling it out in some new work soon.
