Campaign Monitor features Cherry handiwork

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Cor, look! Another mention for Cherry this week, this time from Campaign Monitor, everyone’s favourite email gurus!

We use their software to create and send campaigns for many of our clients, and they’ve picked up on the redesign we recently unleashed for Lonely Planet’s weekly Seize The Days email.

It’s a design we’re really happy with, and one we feels sums up the fun, inspirational nature of the email content nicely. It’s good to see others are appreciating it too!

The world truly is a crazy place… can you imagine spending $15,000 (£9,200) on the hair of a dead person (even the King’s). Someone obviously isn’t feeling the credit crunch!

Finally, we’re famous.

This week we get a mention in top industry journal, New Media Age, for our work on a new online game that has just been launched by Lonely Planet. We have to admit, we had a lot of fun with this one.

We help Lonely Planet “Hack to the future”

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Last week we were special guests of our friends at Lonely Planet in their London office’s first ‘Hack Day’. Inspired by the practise first used by Yahoo, the whole team at Lonely Planet was briefed to down their usual work schedule in order to ‘mass brainstorm’. The overall goal being to come up with improvements to their flagship range of Country and Regional Guidebooks.

Ready for briefing

Ready for briefing

Our job was to help the team develop and mock up their ideas for presentation to the rest of the company at the end of the 24hr session. With prizes at stake, the pressure was on!

The whole gamut of ideas came out, from the common-sense all the way through to the weird and wonderful. We made lots of new friends and got to eat pizza and drink beer, whilst doing design work. What could be better than that?

At the end of it all, to paraphrase the immortal Pat Sharpe, ‘prizes were won and we had a whole lotta fun!’ Now we can’t wait to see the all new, improved Guidebooks.

One of our recent students from the LCC Mentor Scheme, Aaron Darveniza (aka Moose and Yeti), has returned to Cherry Towers with a new mission. Being on the frontline of the Secret Wars events, Aaron was briefed to bring Shoreditch into our meeting room with his own style of street art.

Have a look at several days hard painting condensed into just over two minutes! And see more Moose and Yeti right here.

Adrian is in the house!

Adrian chillin

Here he is in a swimming pool in Costa Rica sporting what can only be described as a scraggly mess of a “Castaway-style” beard. Thankfully he’s shaved that off and is now the newest signing to the Cherry “Dream Team”. Adrian has a good few years industry experience under his belt and will be helping to keep our clients happy and smiling. He’ll also be working on our business development strategy, aka The Cherry Blueprint for Total World Domination. Hopefully you’ll get to meet him soon.
