Guggenheim NYC

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

On a recent trip to NYC, while my friends headed off to Coney Island where Big was filmed, I found time to take a trip to the Guggenheim Museum. The building was designed by the brilliant architect Frank Lloyd Wright and is spectacular inside and out. To celebrate 50 years since the realisation of the building, the museum is staging an exhibition of Frank Lloyd Wright’s work. The permanent collection is also highly impressive with works from many of the masters including Picasso, Seurat, Degas and many more…

If by chance you happen to be in Manhattan then make sure you take yourself along!

We’ve been lucky enough to have artist Tinsel Edwards at Cherry recently on work placement. Not only has she been doing some great work here, but she’s been dragging us along to gallery openings and upping our cool credentials by quite a bit.

And we think her piece above sums up the Cherry philosophy nicely!

Have a look at some more of Tinsel’s work here on the Stella Dore website.

We like to think we know a thing or two about keeping clients happy at Cherry Towers. So when Digital Arts magazine asked us to contribute to another feature recently, this time on the secrets of successful client relationships, we were more than happy to oblige. You can read what we had to say here. Hopefully people will find a few nuggets of useful advice in there.

Coincidentally, this week we met the illustrator responsible for this month’s Digital Arts’ cover – the multi-talented and very lovely Jing Zhang. Check out her colourful patterns and beautiful illustrations here.

Cherry First Thursday……

Friday, May 8th, 2009

First Thursday in Shoreditch is a Cherry fave!

This month the first gallery on the trail was Stella Dore on Rivington street, for I-lib’s solo show.  I-lib – (I Lurk in Bushes) depicts strange anthropomorphic creatures from another world that conjure up captivating visions of love, hate, life and death…. Lots of beautiful Victorian style illustrations on found vintage paper.

‘As Tear Drops Fall’ I-libs solo show, runs until May 23rd at Stella Dore, 47 Rivington Street EC2

After a few beers at Stella Dore we didn’t quite make it to the Power in Numbers show at Bodhi Gallery on Brick Lane, but this is definitely on the list to check out this weekend!  Cure studio and Print Club London have been printing like mad all week to produce 40 different artists work in editions of 50.

Bodhi Gallery is at 214 Brick Lane E1

The night ended with a few more drinks at Dragon Bar, good laugh all round, roll on next First Thursday!
